Thanks to the Millerton Historical Society

How many of you realize the wealth of information that is available from our wonderful Millerton Historical Society- the unsung hero's and keepers of our past- the wealth of photos as well as post cards and newspaper clippings will amaze and thrill you if you take the time to know our past-

you will also be much appreciated if you care enough to send in a few dollars to help them keep and preserve these records-they are always short of funds--Please keep these great folks in mind when visiting our town, they will much appreciate it I'm sure.

The North East Historical Society is looking for local quilters who will partner with teenagers from Webutuck School to develop quilt squares featuring local historic sites/ buildings. Each quilter will sign their square, thus becoming a part of history. The completed quilt will be permanently hung in a public space in the village. Join in on this fun, community effort. Tax -deductible donations will be greatfully accepted by The North East Historical Society, PO BOX 727, Millerton, NY 12546. Ralph Fedele 518-789-4619

At the next meeting of The North East Historical Society on November 5th, John Perotti will take us through a fascinating history of farming and how evolving changes have affected his family and the local community during the last 80 years.John will tell us of his conversations with his grandfather and father. He'll take us from how dairy farming was done in the 1930's to how it has changed over the years due to industrialization and the way technology has changed crop production today. These changes have affected both the Town and Village- The type of stores we have, the make-up of the local population, the effect that shopping malls have on our shopping patterns. Everyone is invited to join us at the North East Millerton Library on Monday night, November 5th at 7 PM.
