I love the village of Millerton. I recommended that a friend of mine stay in Millerton while on a recent business trip as there are several B&B's and Inn's coupled with nice places to eat. He told me that he searched the www.millertonny.com web site but elected to not stay there because in his words "there didn't appear to much there." I was curious so I check it out myself. Sure enough, he was correct in that much of what makes Millerton so attractive to me was absent from the web site. Specifically, only one restaurant is listed under the "Dinning" heading. Only one place is listed under "Lodging." I'm not too sure who is responsible for web site content but personally, I would make an effort to populate the web site with additional information as I'm sure that the town is paying someone to host the site. Just one man's opinion.

Hi Jim, thank you for the time you spent in responding to the MillertonNY web site information. Susan Schneider, the web administrator, is not being paid to keep the site up and running. There is a minimal fee of $40 per year to be on the site, those businesses that you see have paid this small fee which helps to pay for posting, hosting and web master fees if any. Those that are missing may have chosen a secondary site called, "Enjoy Millerton" which is considerably more costly, $350+ per year. Though that is not really expensive, it was difficult for some small businesses to raise during this very difficult economy. Thus, Susan has dedicated herself to providing an affordable alternative. Susan had turned the MillertonNY site over to the business organization 2 years ago, and input remained stagnate for that entire year. When she volunteered to again take the reigns, "Enjoy Millerton" was formed but not on the Web for nearly another year. MillertonNY has been our one remaining constant and there is a small # of volunteers still working on new submissions. We want every business whether Main St Brick and Mortar or virtual to be mentioned, not just a select few which is why the cost is so low for MillertonNY.
Unfortunately the Millerton business people have had a touch time "getting on the same page' to coin a phrase, and it is too bad as Millerton does have a lot to offer for a small country hamlet.Keep sending your friends, everyone is always welcome. Advise them to get on the Millerton News site for weekly notices on what is going on, where to stay, where to eat, we have a first-run Movie House too and the best Book and Music store in our try-state area (NY, CT and Mass) Thanks again!!!

Thanks for responding Chitchat. To be honest, I was not aware of the other Millerton web site. In fact, interestingly enough, when you Google Millerton, NY the millertonny.com web site is prominently displayed thus, I was unaware of the other site. I agree with you. For only $40, if I were a small shop owner, I choose to spend my dollars where the search engines point which is clearly Millertonny.com :-)
